Three years ago, I started turning our small bathroom into our own tropical escape – very much in the spirit of bringing a bit more Aloha feeling into everyday life. Here is how it begun in June 2023.

The idea was simple: tropical plants, warm humid air, some extra light, and a space that suddenly felt a little less like Stockholm and a little more like somewhere far away.

So… how did it go?

Three years later, the bathroom jungle is still very much alive, although quite a few things have changed along the way. Some plants loved it, some had other plans, and the whole setup has slowly evolved.

Getting the right light was a series of own project of different complexity and success rates. I tried a few combinations of LED stripes until I decided to make it simple and just put SANSI 60W full spectrum grow lamp. Had it for almost two years now and couldn’t be happier with that decision. The lamp is on timer for 16 hours from 6am to 10pm. Affiliate link for US standard lamp and for EU or UK. You’ll get 30% off with my code TEAROFA

And here is a new video showing how it looks today and what became of the original mini-jungle project:

Maybe your own bathroom is just waiting for a little tropical invasion.
